Todd's heart beats for young people! While 2008 President of the Associated General Contractors (AGC) Oregon-Columbia Chapter, Todd dedicated his term to the Workforce Image Campaign (WIC), an innovative plan to educate young people about the construction profession by drawing them into vocational training and apprenticeships. Under his leadership, a website was designed to transform negative perceptions about a career in the construction industry.
In addition to the WIC, Todd contributed to the development of Northwest College of Construction (NWCC) and ACE Academy. NWCC is an open shop training facility, and Todd Hess Building Company is an authorized agent for apprenticing Journeymen Carpenters of NWCC. ACE Academy is a charter high school established to prepare Portland students in the fields of Architecture, Construction and Engineering (ACE), and was opened during Todd’s AGC Presidency.
Todd’s investment in youth includes AGC’s Young Contractors Forum (now Construction Leadership Council), Port of Portland’s Mentor Protégé Program, and Portland Area West’s Young Life Committee. Both Todd & Janis Hess have actively devoted their time and resources to Young Life for several years and have served on the planning committee for one of the organization’s newest and largest fundraiser events called Wild Canyon Games.
With such examples modeled by the owners, the entire team at Todd Hess Building Company has been equally inspired to serve our community. Below you will find a list of just some of the ways we are giving back to the people and places that sustain us:
